RoundTable 52: The Fitzgerald Legacy and the Hidden Imperial Jealousy behind the JFK Assassination
For over 400 years, the Fitzgeralds stood as defenders of the Irish people against London’s imperial conquest. The Irish genocide perpetrated by the British Crown was celebrated in the 1586 edition of Holinshed’s Chronicles as “one of the great and wonderful workes of God, both his severe judgement against traitors, rebels and disobedient; and of his mercie and loving kindness upon the obedient and dutiful.” With the beheading of the last Earl in 1583, the imperial vision of John Dee and the Elizabethan court would expand outward into the Americas toward the fateful location of Dallas and the date of November 22, 1963.
Why should we care today? It’s game changing to realize that jealousy was the strongest force behind the assassination of JFK, and Imperialism itself. Media pioneer Marshall McLuhan stated that fact in 1995. “The cultural aggression of white America against Negroes and Indians is not based on skin color and belief in radical superiority, whatever ideological clothing may be used to rationalize it, but on the white man’s inchoate awareness that the Negro and the Indian—are actually physically and socially superior [under a retribal environment] to the fragmented, alienated and dissociated man of Western civilization [the detribal].”
We will examine the long-range imperial vision, the Fitzgerald legacy, and what these hidden patterns may reveal about transcending empire and moving toward a peaceful future.
